A Letter to the Gauntlet Community

To our grads, partners, challengers, and friends –

We’re rebranding Gauntlet. But I don’t want this to feel like just another “we updated our logo” announcement. The truth is simpler: Gauntlet has grown into something enduring, and it is time for our brand to reflect that.

What started as a crazy idea has become the foundation for a new kind of engineering pathway – one built around intensity, accountability, and outcomes.

Inventing What the Market Was Missing

When we launched our first cohort, the response revealed something bigger than we expected: more demand for a new way to identify and train top engineering talent than we ever could’ve imagined. Not another course. Not another recruiting firm. But a system of challenges that push people to their limits and prove what they’re capable of.

From the start, Gauntlet has been completely free for challengers – built with no income share agreements or tuition of any kind. The one caveat: we only accept the top talent. Those who score in the top 2% on a rigorous cognitive assessment, who have demonstrated success shipping real products, and who are brave enough to enter the Gauntlet.

Running the Gauntlet

This rebrand is about aligning our outside with what’s inside of every single one of our graduates: excellence. Gauntlet is not temporary. We’re already expanding our partnerships, increasing our standards, and proving that AI has meaningful value that’s here to stay.

Our mission isn’t just to prepare individuals, but to prove that AI creates a better way to build careers and companies – and to cultivate the skill set required to make it possible, at light speed.

Our Commitment

At Gauntlet, we’re not here to teach someone a single way to code with AI that becomes outdated with the release of the next model. What we build is an environment where people are forced to discover, innovate, and refine their own approach – the workflow that makes them the fastest and most effective.

We give the guardrails and set the pace: challenges every week, real projects to ship, and the kind of intensity that forces clarity. Within those constraints, individuals learn to build their own AI-first methodology. For one person it might mean mastering a new stack; for another, it might mean bending existing tools in ways no one else has even thought of.

The outcome is the same: by the time someone graduates, they don’t just know a way to use AI – they know first-principle methods that have been battle-tested under pressure.

The Road Ahead

The name Gauntlet was never just branding. It was a design principle – a series of challenges you must pass to graduate. Not everyone makes it through, and that’s by design.

A small minority of people produce the majority of impact at any company. Our focus is on finding, training, and proving what these individuals can do.

That’s the road ahead.
